Wake - Sowing The Seeds Of A Worthless Tomorrow

The folks over at Decibel have extremely good taste - so when they choose to debut a new record I try and take notice. Such is the case with Wake's Sowing The Seeds Of A Worthless Tomorrow an album that not only has wonderfully crushing guitar riffs and demented vocals, but also places a heavy emphasis on the sort of raw chaos that makes modern grindcore so special. The perfectly composed aural atrocities found on Sowing The Seeds Of A Worthless Tomorrow invoke the darker side of being and give you a chance to revel in the murk.

Despite the chaos there is often times a palatable sense of groove in the way that these songs trudge forward and use every blast beat as sort of nail driven straight into your heart. Their is a sense of frenzied terror in songs like Wretched Tongues that really speaks to the spirit of the music. What impresses me with Wake is how easily they have been able to establish their own sound. Their is a distinct beauty to their compositions and it's hard not to b impressed with the ferocity in the vocal lines, the level of control the band shows throughout is impressive and speaks to exactly what they are trying to create.

Simply put - Sowing The Seeds Of A Worthless Tomorrow is a stunner. Not only that though, but Wake have been able to invoke something much darker with this album than I think that even thy realize. This is an album that stirs up strange demons within me and should do the same for you - Wake are brilliantly fucked up dudes and the more you peel back the layers of their artistry the more it becomes obvious, we are entering a new wave of grindcore that geniuses like Wake are pioneering and reminding us once more why heavy metal is the law.
