On the surface Calling Cody seems to be a bland shoegaze band with nothing really going for it. I was sitting at my desk contemplating having to write about yet another kind of bland hipster band. (Don't get me wrong, some of them are brilliant but a lot is kind of...) Anyway, that is NOT Calling Cody in the slightest. Instead Calling Cody is a treat for the eardrums. Wild and fun rock and roll for the common man. Their music is filled with heavy riffs and vibrant yells. They understand how to make rock and roll that makes you want to move. They show that their IS indeed hope for rock and roll. This is a band that can at once appeal to the average metalhead as well as the average man. This is a group that takes all of the energy of Motorhead and combines it with the garage tinged dirt of the White Stripes. The end result is a brilliant sound that really reaches out and connects with the listener. So go check these guys out!
