Fister/Chrch - Split

I'm just going to be up front - this might literally be my favorite split of all time. This record is perfect in literally every way and it represents two of my favorite bands in an extremely crowded scene. Both groups build on previously established tropes to prove that they have unique takes on the doom metal genre and while the bands are fairly disparate sonically there is a certain grim potency that unites the two. With both acts contributing extremely long songs to the record, you can't help but to fall in love with this joint offering from Fister and Church.

Chrch kick off the split with their own brand of extremely heavy but also strangely artsy and emotionally potent doom metal. The intro to Temples is absolutely brimming with potential and when that first riff hits you suddenly realize why so many people have been raving about these Sacramento icons in the making. Meanwhile, Fister are absolute master of their craft, the undeniably heavy crunch of the band is couched in the immense musical growth that they have been seeing over the last couple of years. It feels like their contribution, The Ditch is sort of a bridge into the future of this band, full realizing all that they can be.

So I invite you to join me and get lost in the supreme power of this release. Battleground Records and Crown and Throne Ltd have done an amazing job in coordinating together to release something that is mind bendingly heavy and deliciously potent. It's impossible to ignore the colossal might that both of these bands bring to the table. Both groups have a grandiose vision that none of their peers can really lay claim too and the sublime poetry and inherent majesty of these groups has never shined brighter than on this particular split.
