Fuzz Evil - High On You

Desert rock has always sort of been a subset of the larger stoner movement, but it feels with this latest record that Fuzz Evil have found a way to break through the glass ceiling and create something truly grand. High On You is a masterful example of the genre, coming out of small towns and being produced in Dave Grohl's legendary Studio 606 with producer Paul Fig of Ghost, Alice In Chains and Slipknot fame. Suffice to say - Fuzz Evil didn't cut any corners here and you can tell from peak to roaring peak.

A wonderfully fuzzy album it's hard not to be charmed by what Fuzz Evil have done here. It's energetic and powerful, delivered with a bit of a sneer, but that's the beauty of it. Fuzz Evil full understand the power of high energy rock and roll and they deliver it unabashedly and with the same sort of crimson glory that has made this genre so exciting for so long. There is a groovy majesty to tracks like You Can Take Her Away that show us exactly how far these Arizona rock and rollers have come. Coated in wonderfully warm production and with a breadth to the sound not commonly heard in this style of music it's a strangely addicting listen.

At the end of the day, Fuzz Evil understand we are all just heartbroken rock and rollers looking for the next hit of high quality riffage. Groovy, exciting and always over the top, High On You speaks to those of us who just want to let our hair down and give in to the party. There are no illusions around what Fuzz Evil is doing here, it's straight and to the point rock and roll that you're going to sink your teeth into no matter how old you are or what you like. It's rare to find an album in this scene with this sort of cross platform potential, but here we fuckin' are.
