Aoratos - Gods Without Name

Bombastic and powerful, Aoratos have outdone themselves on Gods Without Name. With powerful symphonic fringes and a sense of the true majesty of black metal this is a record that reflects the sort of descent into madness that true devotees of the genre can't help but to love. In a world where we all must face our own demons and take on great internal struggles, Gods Without Name speaks to a sort of tortured unreality within us all, the daily toil of pure sonic slaughter and crawling forward through the murk.

This is the sort of record that you can really sink your teeth into in the way that it navigates black metal soundscapes with ease and invites the listener to gaze upon the inner circles of hell. Gods Without Name is a record that reflects on massive guitar tones and terrifying keys. It has something distinctly unsettling throughout and that's a huge part of why I've been sold so hard on what's happening here. The best part too is that the record doesn't overstay its welcome .The songs are driven and clearly focused, none of the fluff and wankery that seems to define so much of the forward thinking black metal genre today.

Featuring members of Akhlys and Nightbringer, it makes sense that the musicians behind Gods Without Name are capable of spewing out something so top notch. This is a record that is fully aware of its own grandeur and all that it has the potential to be. If you're not ready to fall in love with the metal madness within, that's your own damn fault, but if you can open your eyes to in your face slaughter, then you will fall in love. Suffice it to say, Debemur Morti knocked it out of the park yet again here.
