Violent Life Violent Death - The Color Of Bone

Now this one is a crusher. Few records reflect the same level of torment and sonic punishment as Violent Life Violent Death do. Their new offering The Color Of Bone is a potent and crushing record that goes straight for the throat. It's a terrifying listen and one that will beat you over the head time and time again. This is a stunning release, an album that routinely goes above and beyond and evidence of just how good these guys are. They distill pure hatred on The Color Of Bone making for a helluva record to get lost in and fall in love with.

The punishing crush of this record is mesmerizing. Tracks like 'Grave Walk' brim with hate, and the devastation doesn't let up for a minute. Clocking in at just over 17 minutes long, Violent Life Violent Death don't have a whole ton of time to deliver their message. Fortunately they don't need it. Midway through the second track, 'Dead With Me' it's already clear who this band are and what they are trying to accomplish. It's pure sonic punishment that comes in the form of groovy riffs, crashing drums and tormented vocals. There is an aggravated execution here that terrifies the listener and points to so many twisted new ideas.

The Color Of Bone is a scary record. The scream of "I wish you were dead" that dominates 'Dead With Me' is just one hint of the incredible anger and ferocity behind this offering. It's a record that threatens to tear everything apart and that cracks skulls on its way into hell. The Color Of Bone is a gloriously violent offering and one that has me absolutely salivating for more. As you delve into this record it becomes increasingly clear just how twisted and amazing Violent Life Violent Death are when operating at their finest. It'll leave you scraping your jaw off the floor.
