It's crazy to think that in five years of activity Esoctrilihum is already preparing to release their sixth full length. The French black metal project has launched themselves to the fore of a slow moving scene and proven that they are among the greats in the genre. This latest offering Dy'th Requiem For The Serpent Telepath is masterful and exciting, the sort of black metal that leaves listeners in awe, begging for more and stunned by the execution of a band who remain devoted to black metal darkness despite what osnic twists and turns they may take.
There is a real power and transcendence to the execution behind this record. Dy'th Requiem For The Serpent Telepath is a stunner in the level and overarching quality of the execution. In particular, I love the use of synths, they provide a nice sense of padding and a power to the music that makes it all the more compelling. It's really a delight to immerse yourself in the open throated fury of the band and the way that it pushes you towards a darker future. The only drawback is perhaps the drums, I'm not necessarily in love with the sounds used, and while they aren't necessarily bad, they are pretty clearly programmed which, when you start to notice it becomes a bit distracting. That being said - it's also a big part of the appeal of this whole thing. The DIY fringes are powerful.
Dy'th Requiem For The Serpent Telepath is a record that underground metal fans are going to get excited about. It's a record that really doubles down on the now-classic sound that Esoctrilihum have developed for themselves and it's a pleasure to really immerse yourself in the sonic world that has been crafted here. Dy'th Requiem For The Serpent Telepath is a record that devout fans of the genre will fall in love with. It has creepy synths, amazing guitars and a sense of power that will leave listeners in awe and curious for more.
