Red Swingline is a solo instrumental prog metal project. An interesting thing about this guy is that his songs have really long progressions that somehow all click together by the end of the song.Yet it is often frustrating to be sitting for two minutes through an acoustic intro. Yet the overall effect is rather nice. The guitar work is pretty good but not overly technical except for a few nice fills. The riffs are powerful and melodic and the solos pretty decent. Yet nothing guitar wise is really amazing. The fact that there are no vocals doesn't help and makes the music seem kind of flat. The drums are decent and do a good job building tension btu they too are nothing too amazingly fun. Overall Red Swingline is a decent solo project that could be awesome with a good vocalist.
OVERALL 7/10
