At Death's Behest

At Death's Behest
At Death's Behest is an extremely tight death metal band with a great old school feel. Their music is heavy and brutal. The riffs are brilliant and very tasty. In fact the guitar work reminds me a lot of that of Necroticism-Era Carcass. The guitarist really knows how to infuse his playing with a touch of evil. His solos are awesome and they have a speedy shredding aggression to them that is rarely matched in the modern scene. The bass playing is extremely rapid and I really like the manic playing on songs like Obliterate. It's impressive to hear the bassist playing so fast and making a sound that is so purely brutal. The drum work is brilliant and there are a lot of great fills. This band has an interesting emphasis on rhythm and it's cool to hear this drummers many ideas coming to fruition. With a combination of blast beats and battered toms he finds a good balance between hectic attacks and more rhythmic flavors. Finally the growls are excellent, with a lot of the anger and brutality that made the old school death metal bands so good these guys will not disappoint. I particularly like the hopeless screaming on the intro of Enslaved. In conclusion, At Death's Behest is an awesome death metal band that you will not soon forget. So check them out!
