The New Paradigm is a cool new prog band very much in the vein of Dream Theater and Haken. They take the classic prog sound and infuse it with tastes of power metal and even touches of metalcore. They have carved out their own little niche. Overall their sound should appeal to any Dream Theater fan. One of my favorite things about this band is the use of keys to create a really powerful atmosphere. Rather than giving the keys lead lines they come across sounding similar to the keys in Nightwish epics. Yet when the keys do take a lead line (As they do towards the end of The Blood-born) they actually add a really cool hyper melodic side to the music. Overall these guys are really tasty and have some sick musicians. Go check them out!
