What really sets this album apart is the incredible fretboard mastery of Mr. Dobson. The way his hands fly across the neck on songs like Wizard in the Wind is truly something to be reckoned with. Factored into this is that more than half of the music on this double album is only acoustic guitar and you see how Dobson truly is a metal force. Even if the songs might not be traditionally called 'metal' the feeling behind them and the general atmosphere around the music makes it seem like something that would go on Shrapnel Records back in the 80s. In other words, while Acoustic Metal is very unique, it should still appeal to fans of shred.
To wrap it up, if you're looking for a really cool guitar record reminiscent of a combination of Nicolo Paganini and Marty Friedman then Acoustic Metal is the record for you. This record seems to be just another in a long line of guitar releases, showing that Dobson is worthy of mounting the pantheon along with Satriani, Govan, and Becker. A true guitar lord Acoustic Metal leaves you only wanting more, proving once and for all that trve shred will never die but only rise again harder and stronger proving that the music of the old guitar gods influence will forever live on.
