Chariots of the Gods

Tides of War cover art

Chariot of the Gods is a nifty group who bill themselves as 'Melodic Death Thrash', and while at first this may seem as a product of the metalheads love for categorization there is in fact no better way to describe these guys. Their sound is distinctly In Flames influenced yet it has all of the aggression of a band like Lamb of God. The end result of all of this is a distinctly appealing and very powerful band whose music is hard to escape. Their crushing riffs and melodic approach is simply a blast to listen to, it melts your face off with its ferocity and then caresses your ear drums with the gentler and more melodic riffs. The touches of metalcore that they work into the sound give the music flavor to, it especially spices up tracks like Revillusion (1905). I'd also like to point out that some of the solos here are pretty spectacular, in particular the one on Severing the Bloodline is just magic. So if you're looking for a band who put a new edge on melodeath then this is the band for you! If you live in Canada be sure to check their Facebook for upcoming tour dates!
