Lamb of God+Sylosis at Bataclan

My best friend had arrived that morning in Paris, I myself had awoken at 5 AM to fly from Toulouse (In the south of France) to my home city. We were both jet lagged, my computer had randomly decided to stop working (sorry about the lack of posts guys) and we had been waiting years for this very day. We were seeing Lamb of God and Sylosis and all was well. To top things off it would all be at a great venue. Le Bataclan is basically my favorite 'large' venue in the entire city of Paris, it has a really fascinating vibe to it and is in a pretty decent neighborhood, always a plus for returning late from a violent gig.

First up came Sylosis, they played a ripping set and encouraged quite the pit. Their wall of death was huge, and especially impressive considering it came only on the second song. Things were vicious and we (the moshers) totally heeded Josh Middletons unholy cry of "I wanna see some f*cking movement!". The performance was very tight too, the more complex guitar parts were flawless and some of the flashier solos were practically transcendent. They reinvoked my love for this band and reminded me of all the exciting things happening in death metal today. Sylosis are band I could see play again and again. As soon as their set ended, I had to ask myself, how could Lamb of God top a band this tight?

Of course Lamb of God completely blew me away. This being my first time seeing the metal legends I was not expecting something of this sheer magnitude. Mr. Randy Blythe is truly a brilliant performer. I have never seen a band who could connect so well to such a large audience. Blythe's stage banter is stellar and makes every audience member feel like they are having a personalized concert experience. This is a band who are nearly perfect live. They must have read my mind to, their set list consisted of ALL of my favorite Lamb of God songs from every era of the groups existence. Special highlights were of course Ghost Walking, Redneck, and Black Label (dat Wall of Death bro) which was especially dedicated to a certain Daniel, a worthy tribute from Blythe.

In conclusion, last night was one of the best of my life, the fulfillment of several life long dreams, many of which I thought would never be fulfilled. Sylosis very much impressed me and I'm going to have to go back through their discography, it seems like it will be very much worth it. Yet something greater happened to me last night, as I crowd surfed on Redneck I realized something important about this band. They provide a sort of poetry of the people, Lamb of God is this generations Metallica, and now I do indeed have something to die for.
