One of my favorite parts about this record is the solo breaks. They are not overly technical but they contribute a lot to the overall power of the songs. One great example of this is on their track Genesis which uses a solo to accentuate the rest of the song in a glorious fashion. I also like the riffs which have a crushing death metal might behind them. It helps to push the tracks to a new level and keep things interesting and fun. Finally, the crazed and often boorish nature of the band is often allowed to shine through. This adds to the whole atmosphere of the record and keeps things lighthearted, fun, and most importantly METAL. One example of this wild party hearty attitude is on their track Extreme Merde (Extreme Shit in English) which showcases how furious Xi-ox can be.
In conclusion, this collection of five tracks and an intro (And a bonus track) represents the power of heavy metal as a party inducing drug, a sound that makes us all go wild. While there are definitely more refined sections on this record, (in fact there are a lot of them) the way this band so unapologetica;ly embraces metal is something that has to be heard to be believed. Fusing genres and ideas Xi-ox are clearly their own thing. If they can continue to develop their unique sound and polish it further their full length should be a wonderful release. I can't wait to see what the future holds for these guys!
