Junior Bruce-The Burden

Junior Bruce is the kind of band who could get by on groove alone. With a punishing sludge metal sound that is as slow as it is heavy their gradual and destructive attack is definitely something that has to be heard to be believed. Their new record The Burden is a two song EP replete with moments of stoner metal brilliance. This is the kind of band who turn it up to eleven and rock with pride. Their is a glorious and vicious approach to music here and it helps to make this record addictive and powerful.

One of the first things that will strike you about The Burden is, as mentioned earlier, the ridiculous amounts of groove that this band seems to subsist on. Sure the riffs are often slow and the drums crashing. But the way they force themselves into your skull is impressive and leaves even the most hardened listener begging for more. With The Burden Junior Bruce showcase their ability as songwriters to create something that fuses sludge, stoner, and punk into a new and fresh sound that forces your entire body into a sort of unholy dance. Praising the magic of a band who have just about found their signature sound.

In conclusion, The Burden suggests a bright future for Junior Bruce. While certain bits could be polished more (I'm looking at you clean vocals) Junior Bruce seem to have a very distinct sound and a clear artistic direction. And in this day and age, that's pretty darn rare. Suffice to say, Junior Bruce have made a statement with The Burden and it leaves the listener begging for more. With a full length and a slightly more developed sound Junior Bruce could be the next big thing in sludge.
