Godless-Ingredere In Templum Satanae

Not a lot of black metal bands can claim to have been around for a quarter of a century, and few have maintained the raw evil that made their original recordings so good. Today, Puerto Rican black metal legends are back with another release Ingredere In Templum Satanae that is every bit as bleak and evil as their original recordings. These guys create music that is extreme and horrifying, there is no mercy in the sound of Godless, this band is unapologetically evil and grim, filled with the sheer undying hatred that makes raw black metal so wonderfully pure.

One of my favorite aspects of this record is the mesmering, nay, hypnotic way the songs are structured. Getting lost in the mist of Godless's otherworldly black metal evil is surprisingly, and even frighteningly easy. The riffs here blaze forth with a sort of hatred that goes beyond what mortal man is capable of, there is something torn from the crypt in Ingredere In Templum Satanae. Sure the production is practically non existent, but that just adds to the magic of the release. It helps to bring out the sheer hatred behind the vocals (another highlight on this record). The way Ingredere In Templum Satanae is mixed allows for the demoniacal singing to really be showcased, adding to the unholy triumph of this record. Yet the cleans also add a lot of flavor and a certain solemnity, I really like the balance that the band finds in cleans and shrieks.

This is not black metal for the faint of heart. Why, even having a heart may prevent you from fully enjoying Ingredere In Templum Satanae. This is black metal in its purest, atavistic form, here to rip out throats with a dedication to evil that few can match. The antediluvian darkness of Godless has perhaps reached its peak on this release, these guys have somehow found a new fount of evil more than three decades into their career. If nothing else, Ingredere In Templum Satanae is just further proof that Exalted Woe is one of the best small labels out there today, so let your hair fly, the black metal attack is coming for you!
