The Truth cover art

Farooq is hardcore of the highest degree, dedicated to the old school, yet unafraid to mix in new ideas, such as the bands frequent metal riffs. Their new record The Truth is proof that true hardcore will never die but instead rise up harder and stronger. Maybe I'm just super supportive of this scene after having seen MOD last night, but I think there is something more. There is a raw power and magic behind Farooq that helps them to really rock. Their style runs the gamut of hardcore, mixing in elements of Black Flag, Henry Rollins and Hatebreed. The end result of all of this is a powerful record that combines a variety of vocal styles, groovy riffs, and a harsh overall delivery for the kind of thing that will provoke mosh pits across the globe. Suffice to say, if you dig it fast and loose then Farooq is the band for you. These guys understand hardcore in a way few of their contemporaries do and for that they are great. Hold on to your hat and get ready, now is the time to bring the mosh and bring it hard.
