Malhkebre-Revelation

As i first glanced over this album, I had an expectation of what it would be like, though the album cover had left a degree of mysticism with me. Malhkebre formed in 2002 in France and currently consist of Eklezjas'Tik Berzerk on vocals,  Shamaanik B on drums, Messiatanik Armrek on guitar, and Kristik A.K on bass. Their lyrical themes deal with topics such as mutilation and suicide.

My expectation of what this record was going to be like like was completely shattered by the second track. The vocals on this album mix shouts with screeches and low toned talking and low growls unlike others. The vocals are completely unique and unlike typical black metal screeches from Norwegian masters such as Nocturno Culto and Ihsahn. Often times the vocals seem rather punkish though they are not comparable to typical punk vocalists either. The band mixes atmosphere with mayhem exceptionally well on this record. The instrumentation on this album is superb and the atmosphere given by the guitar sound drives this record forth, as well as how locked in and tight the band can be when needed.

The production on this album is raw, yet does not sound like it was recorded in a 3x8 jail cell with a potato, I think it lies on the line for the proper black metal recording quality sound gives the record an atmosphere that fits remarkably well with it's instrumentation. Also displayed on this record are tracks with sound effects which really add to the darkness that surrounds this album. It truly pleases me to hear unique black metal in 2014 and this is it. So give it a listen and piss your neighbors off with it!
