Synaptik

Thursday night, one more day of classes until fall break for many college students across the country, what better time to thrash it up? Yet Synaptik are much more than mere thrash metal, with all sorts of melodic and prog elements brought in, Synaptik are the kind of thrash band who seem dedicated to expanding the boundaries of what thrash, or even metal, can be. These guys are joy to listen too simply because they seem to have such a great understanding of what they want to do and how to do it. Sure they use melodic vocals, but in this context, they work really well. The way they flow over tracks like As I Am, As I Was proves that these guys are the real deal. On top of that, there are some great guitar solos that add a ton of flavor to the bands attack. Toss in interesting prog riffs (and some top notch bass lines) and you start to get a sense for where these guys are coming from. Let the music consume you, this is not your average thrash band, and as a result, they require a few extra spins to really 'get'. So go on, jam it, and let it chew you up then spit you out.
