There is a certain poignant beauty to gore metal that few other genres have. The thing is, this type of music speaks to something darker within us all and gives us a sort of profane liberation. After listening to a song like I Bury The Hatchet In Your Face how can you not just say "Fuck it"? The catharsis found in records like Boned, Boxed and Buried is just as important, if not more, as the way it appeals to your inner fifteen your old. This record is gory, brutal, and massively enjoyable in every possible way.
Nailgun Massacre do not seek to deny their old school death metal roots, and in fact at some points they come dangerously close to musically quoting them. Not that that would be a bad thing though, in fact Boned, Boxed And Buried is able to capture the imagination and leave us not only ripped and torn, but riding a veritable ocean of viscera into a better world. The riffs on this record are doom laden, even the faster ones give you a sense that something terrible is going to happen. Often relying on a mid paced crunch Boned, Boxed, and Buried forces your face into a pile of regurgitated guts and then gets you to swallow the filth.
Filled with chunky vocal lines and all sorts of blasphemies that become endlessly fascinating after multiple listens, Nailgun Massacre are more than metal masters. They're the kind of people who take all that is demented with a band like Cannibal Corpse and then push it up another level. This isn't just obscene and extreme, this is utter liberation from all sorts of paradigms that dictate everyday life. Nailgun Massacre provide an escape, and as you descend into their strange otherworldly hell, you can feel the world coming to an end.
