Man it's been too long since I've written about truly esoteric and cutting edge black metal here. Sorrow Plagues provides just such a release, using powerful soundscapes, raging screams and bazing guitars to conjure up demonic flames of times forgot. The sense of raw chaos and overwhelming agony that helps to give this band flavor is inspiring. When you add in the melodic lines that ring out over top on songs like An Eternity Of Solitude, you start to get a sense for the majesty of Sorrow Plagues. At the same time, there is something intensely personal about Sorrow Plagues' latest record An Eternity Of Solitude, it has the kind of desperate introspection that can only be found in solo projects. As you dig deeper into the mystical soundworld that Sorrow Plagues have created it's hard not to fall in love. The man behind the music, Dave Lovejoy knows what it means to dig into a deeper and more poignant reality filled with the incredible sorrow of the human condition, and that's what makes this record great.
