So - regular readers know I fucking love Full of Hell, but I will admit - those guys definitely can get a bit cerebral at times. Hyena seem to acknowledge this and manage to invoke Full of Hell's balls out zany sound and reign it back with something a bit more... logical. There is a sense of sublime anger to Hyena's music, yet they remain fairly listenable and easy to groove too. Unafraid to acknowledge their Hardcore roots there are moments of true genius on their new record, I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream. The use of distortion and the crushing riffs that give such vibrant and skull shattering flavor to songs like The Barnhouse Effect is stunning, it makes Hyena instantly memorable. The use of feedback is turned into an art form and it's hard to listen to Hyena and not want to wreck shit. After all, what more could you want? These guys are going places, and fast, hope on the bandwagon or get run over.
