Amputory

Ode to Gore cover art

There is a certain charm to basement worshipping death metal that I think a lot of modern day acts have forgotten. When you have a band like Amputory who come out with crushing sludgy riffs and punishing guttural vocals it's hard to ignore the raw power they have. The balls out vocals and intense drum blasts come together to provide a rhythmic palate that slots in nicely alongside buzzsaw guitars that leave the listener gasping for air. Yet, at the end of the day, Amputory still have a sense of groove, making them inherently listenable and even injecting a sense of fun to the music. The way that these guys stomp forward before suddenly dialing back and impress you with riffs is stunning and reflects the bands ability to exploit all aspects of the death metal canon. Amputory understand what it means to crush your skull in with towering riffs and terrifying guitar tone, truly truly I say to you, this is basement slaughter for the twenty first century.
