Deathkamp Ov The Skull and Funeral Embrace is a sort of double release that I'm not fully sure how to describe. See... The Infamous Gehenna have essentially slapped together a pair of top notch seven inches and have gifted it unto the fans to pick apart. It makes for some pretty interesting, especially when you can tell where the seven inches flip over. It speaks to the power of The Infamous Gehenna that they can accomplish so much on a pair of records that are fairly sonically different and both very exciting to listen too (Albeit in very different ways!)
The thing is Deathkamp Ov The Skull sees the band pushing its limits and really opening your mind. It's exciting to hear a band so renowned for their stripped back black metal stuff putting out a surreal grim epic like Deathkamp Ov The Skull. It speaks to the bands ability to craft all sorts of music and really proves their talents as a collective of musicians. Meanwhile, the second half, Funeral Embrace has the kind of fucked up black n' roll mastery that I have grown to love. The demonic cry of Into the Grave gets my heart beating faster and reminds me why I do this in the first place. Meanwhile a track like the titular Funeral Embrace is deliciously evil and will tear your throat out and leave you crying for a loving god, the point is, it fucking rips.
With all manner of dive bombs and demonic screams dominating this record, it shows to me that The Infamous Gehenna have the sort of ferocity that will be remember for time immemorial. This sort of balls out black metal is hard to deny for the extreme metal fan, and if you're anything like me you'll find yourself embracing each and every track off this record with a bloody smile on your face and a tasty dose of hate in your heart. The Infamous Gehenna know what the fuck is up, now the question is, do you?
