Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Arc

Man, January and February of 2016 are fucking jam packed with great releases, and the latest from Agoraphobic Nosebleed, the almighty Arc sees the band going in a totally different direction, and holy shit is it amazing. Rather than the balls out destruction we normally see the from the band Arc functions as the first part of a series of EP's meant to explore the individual members tastes - this one going in a much slower and sludgier direction. Agoraphobic Nosebleed execute this genre shift with aplomb though, and it's hard not to fall in love with the sound.

If you had told me this morning that there would be an Agoraphobic Nosebleed song that featured a guitarmony, or one that I could describe as bluesy on their next record I would have laughed in your face. This is the band who were always meant to be the fastest, the darkest and the heaviest. Their music has always been vile, brutal almost to a fault - and the this happens. Of course, I mean all of this in the best way possible, in all honesty Arc may very well be my favorite release from the band who once penned a song titled "Dick To Mouth Resuscitation" It's interesting to hear these guys growing up and evolving, writing songs that explore the human condition in new and exciting ways and showing us that the latent evil is in fact far more engaging than we ever thought possible.

Differently intense, Arc still conjures up all of the potency of previous Agoraphobic Nosebleed releases, it's just that now we get to see what happens when the band stretches themselves out and allows us to suffer differently. This is an album for the ages and one that shows the insane talent behind the band. For anyone who doubted Agoraphobic Nosebleed's supremacy in the realm of heavy music before, this record is the gem in the bands crown that launches them among the greats. Agoraphobic Nosebleed are one of the defining heavy acts of our time, and there's nothing you can do about it.
