Atrocious Abnormality - Formed In Disgust

After delays upon delays one of the worlds most highly touted mid 2000's death metal bands is back with a sophomore release that is guaranteed to blow you out of the water. This is a band who received enormous praise back in 2007 with the release of Echoes Of The Rotting and have now gone on to create some of the most potent gore metal that I have heard in a good long while. Sludgy, devilish and demolishing there is something incredibly charming about what Atrocious Abnormality have been able to do with Formed In Disgust

Rumbling along with all of the finesse of a tank there is actually something quite endearing about Formed In Disgust. As you delve into guitar squeals and chugging riffs it's hard not to smile and raise your horns in the air. The reassuring devastation of a song like Exterminate The Apostles gets at something rather fundamental about death metal and gives you a chance to find inner peace as a gigantic long hair North Carolina man screams at you about the terrors of this universe. Listening to the band bash your skull in is surprisingly addictive, and even though I'm not really a slam guy I've found myself coming back to Formed In Disgusts much more than I ever thought that I would be willing too.

The thing is, though Atrocious Abnormality aren't necessarily doing anything new they are among the very best at what they do. The tortured screams and bludgeoning riffs speak to this and show that Atrocious Abnormality understand what it means to create their own void. Taking the classic sound of bands like Cannibal Corpse into their own direction this is an album that will invoke your inner fifteen year old. With a bass like a tortured elephant and a forward march that is utterly unstoppable Atrocious Abnormality are here for your head.
