Inquisition - Bloodshed Across The Imperial Altar Beyond The Celestial Zenith

No matter what sort of drama they seem to get caught up in I can't help but to love Inquisition. This is a band who truly understand the power of black metal, and as they thunder forth with yet another record all of us back metal puritans are forced to avert our collective gaze and once more acknowledge the almighty power of a band who understand the raw spirit of black metal in a way that none of their peers can claim. Bloodshed Across The Imperial Altar Beyond The Celestial Zenith may be a mouthful, but it is a hell of a record.

Everything about Bloodshed Across The Imperial Altar Beyond The Celestial Zenith is wonderfully refined - even the moments of chaos. Inquisition have so finely honed their craft over the years that it is almost impossible to understand the black metal paradigm without them. Of course - what they do isn't really death metal by numbers, but rather an enhancement upon that. This is the sort of black metal that blazes brightly and proudly. Bloodshed Across The Imperial Altar Beyond The Celestial Zenith is going to keep you rushing forward, a slave to the selfsame demented ideals that make black metal sacred.

Every track on Bloodshed Across The Imperial Altar Beyond The Celestial Zenith seems like the pinnacle of black metal excellence. Every song is a new triumph and a brave new step forward for one of the last truly fearsome bands in black metal. This is a band who are at a point in their careers that they don't have to give a fuck what you think because they are so goddamn good at their jobs that they have redefined what those jobs can be. Sure Bloodshed Across The Imperial Altar Beyond The Celestial Zenith has some swagger - but guess what? Inquisition deserve it.
