Horrocious - Depleted Light And The Death Of Uniqueness

Album titles like Depleted Light And The Death Of Uniqueness are why I love working in heavy metal. Sure it might not always be the most glamorous industry, but at least I get to write a band called Horrocious. Osmose Productions have been really knocking it out of the park this year with black metal releases and Depleted Light And the Death Of Uniqueness is another entry into their unholy canon. This is an intense blackened death metal record that doesn't let up for a moment, beating the listener over the head with blast beats.

There is an unrelenting assault that this Turkish duo seems to revel in. The intensity of their sonic landscapes is clear even from the album opener, Light Belongs To Our Heresy. The group is on a bloodthirsty and Luciferian mission to spread hate across the world. The sheer vitriol that they spit on these songs is impressive and in many ways will just mesmerize the listener. It's rare to find black metal these days that communicates this level of intensity. However when you consider the brutal background which the band come from it makes a little more sense that they would be able to create something so depraved.

Depleted Light And The Death Of Uniqueness is an absolute monster of a record. It continually pushes the band to new heights and has a sort of insane sense of sonic poetry behind it that can't hep but to fascinate. Horrocious routinely elevate the dialog around what they are doing and the more time I spend with this album the more I am fascinated with the band. Depleted Light And The Death Of Uniqueness is a wonderfully horrifying kickoff to what promises to be a grandiose and demented career.
