Revenge - Strike.Smother.Dehumanize

Revenge have a longstanding reputation as one of the evillest and heaviest bands in the underground. There is a twisted and wondrous magic to what the band has conjured up with their music. The gloriously satanic remonstrances and grunts that define a track like 'Excommunication' speak to the wonderfully demented nature of the band and all that they have sought to create over the last two decades. It's easy to become entranced with their hard hitting blasting fury that refuses to relent, no matter the odds.

Strike.Smother.Dehumanize comes five years after the bands full length and two after their last EP. It's a go for the throat assault that leaves the listener gasping for air. Even the slowed down crunch of the bridge of 'Lightning Mythos' continually speaks to the bands ability to make any atmosphere feel disturbed. This album is another triumphant step forward for the black metal commandos, the production feels angrier and the overarching assault has once more become all the more intimidating. This is some truly depraved stuff that Revenge have put together here. It's hard to ignore its inherent insanity.

The band careens forward on this one, constantly showing you insane new paths and beating you about the head with sheer black metal grit. This is an intimidating record, a record that continually demands the listener dig deeper into the pit and become ever more aware of the depravity to come. Revenge are one of a kind and they aren't afraid to show it. This is devastating fucking black metal coming from a band who have proven time and time again that they are the kings of the genre in its most hateful form.
