Wode - Burn In Many Mirrors

Now this is a wonderful nightmare. Burn In Many Mirrors, the latest from blackened death metallers Wode is a masterpiece, a domineering record that is ambitious in its execution and over the top in its destructive madness. It's a record that leaves you clawing at your sanity and which continually impresses with some very high quality songwriting. To immerse yourself in what Wode do is to embrace a darkness few of the bands peers can match. It's occult and powerful, but also done with a very human sense of grit. 

You've got to love the raw aggression and gorgeous hate machine that defines tracks like 'Fire In The Hills' The melodies are ominous and brooding, meanwhile the bottom end is incredibly tight and just a little terrifying. Include some truly excellent production (especially on the vocals!) and it starts to become clear why Wode are such critical darlings. Beyond that - there is a sense of swagger throughout Burn In Many Mirrors that helps to make it sound special. Wode konw just how good they are and when they are coming at you at a million miles an hour they are very prepared to bash your fucking skull in. 

Dive deep into this living nightmare of a record. It's got layers upon layers, stunning execution, and every time you think you've heard it all they break out a new trick to impress. Burn In Many Mirrors is a potent offering and one that will keep you headbanging through the night. It's a delight to really delve into the unholy magic of what the band offer here and the more time I spend spinning this release, over and over, the more I realize the sheer enormity of what they have crafted.
