Aara - Triade III: Nyx

It feels like I'm always writing about Aara these days, but when the band has released five high quality full lengths since 2019, it feels like it would almost be a crime not too! Aara are a special force in the underground and it's a delight to hear them heading to crack skulls and blow minds with the magic of their latest offering, the masterful Triade III: Nyx. This is melodic black metal done right, chock to the brim full of terror and with a pulsating black metal heart keeping listeners awake at night as they reflect on the bleakness within.

Triade III: Nyx is the final chapter in in the bands trilogy inspired by the 1820 gothic novel "Melmoth the Wanderer" by Charles Maturin. It soars higher and plumbs deeper depths than its previous records, consistently showing listeners just how exceptional Aara are. The songs here have an impressive emotional depth and the melodicism and vision of the execution is really exciting. Aara use this record as a sort of tour de force of modern day melodic black metal. The artistic vision is strong, but so is the actual songwriting itself. These songs are deeply engaging and certain to keep listeners coming back in awe of what's been done here.

Aara have outdone themselves on Triade III: Nyx. This is an album that speaks to so many layers of nihility and which eagerly unveils the looming terror of the underground. This is black metal done with a clear respect for the history of the genre but also a very obvious desire to keep moving things forward. It's really a delight to immerse yourself in something with such a clear vision and a plan of attack that seems to just keep getting better. You need this album in your life.

Pre-order the album!
