Necrofier are back, and the flame burns ever higher! Their new album, Burning Shadows In The Southern Night is an absolute monster. This is black metal done right, perfectly emblematic of the blazing new wave of the US school of black metal that has been coming back hard and fast, with a desire for blood and a vision of a demented future. It's hard not to be thrilled with what is being done here and the unholy vision that Necrofier are unleashing upon us with the crippling sonic blows of their latest, and most wonderfully vile new album.
Burning Shadows In The Southern Night is a monster for a few reasons. It's the sheer bloodlust though that reigns above all. This is a record that really revels in the twisted madness of black metal and the seething filth that makes the genre so compelling in the first place. It's hard not to be charmed by the flaming torment of Necrofier and their dedication to classic black metal tropes. These dudes are songwriters in the sense that few of their peers can measure up too and the end result is some wonderfully compelling black metal that fans of the underground are thirsting for. The USBM scene has wallowed in the dark for too long, and Necrofier are part of the firestorm back to the fore.
This is a black metal addicts black metal record. It has bombast and sick riffs, and a dedication to the old gods, bands like Venom and Mayhem, that is so often lost in new waves of black metal. NEcrofier understand the ferocity this genre needs and the twisted vision of their execution is wonderfully addictive. For those of us who revel in the murk and love to writhe in the dark, it's hard not to become addicted to the flaming sorcery of Burning Shadows In The Southern Night. It's just a harbinger of evil tidings to come.
