For years now Philadelphia has built a reputation as having one of the most exciting punk scenes in the country. In 7 minutes 32 seconds Vulture Raid prove that reputation is well merited. Their high energy, poppy take on hardcore is wonderfully addictive. The songwriting is immaculate, the choruses are huge and the vocals are passionate. And yet Vulture Raid II feels like just the start for the Philly foursome. This EP is extremely fun, with a clear passion for the genre bleeding through every startlingly musical chord and agile bass riff. The cover of Gangsters Paradise is wholly unexpected but a great little addition to the melange and has me curious about what else the band might do going forward. Suffice it to say - I am desperate for more from these guys, this is a really interesting, fun offering and the world needs more Vulture Raid.
