Sulphur

Sulphur is an epic black death metal band with a sound that could be described as a combination of Dimmu Borgir and Carcass. They have all of the tightness and symphonic prowess of Dimmu Borgir while holding onto their death metal roots with a very fast sound reminiscent of Carcass. The guitar work is fast and simple, yet it gets the job done. The guitars add a magic brutality and anger to the music and they will not be ignored. The bass work is also extremely heavy and truly pushes the band to new extremes. It particularly shines during the verse of The Purifying Flame, where the bassist pulls the band straight into Tartarus. The drum work is really cool and the emphasis on the double bass pedal is exceptional. It means that the band is always driving forward with an extremely quick attack. It's relentless drive is one of my favorite parts about this band. The keyboards are very much in the vein of symphonic black metal bands like Dimmu Borgir or Borgne. They are broad and have a creepy energy to them. Finally we have the vocals, the growls are pretty straightforward and brutal and keep the bands general aggressiveness up. While by no means unique they are very good ad definitely do the job. In conclusion, Sulphur is a great band who you really need to check out!
