Defy The Ocean-Myopic

Defy the Ocean is a nifty new rock band with a beautiful and expansive sound that is hard to wrap your head around. With all of the magic of Devin Townsend combined with the down to earth feel of Alice in Chains this band truly takes you on a journey that you will not soon forget. This is a record that can truly move you.

The guitar work features a lot of really epic compositions that reach out and somehow become more than they are. They have an incredible power behind them and the arrangements really allow them to shine. I like the way that they fit into the music and really just give the entire thing a sense of purpose.

Meanwhile the bass work is very heavy and really pushes the band forward in a more powerful direction. It helps make crushing riffs and really forces the music down your throat. The drumming is also pretty powerful and the pounding double bass really helps make the music come across better. It adds a lot of flavor to say the least.

Finally the vocals are powerful and have a certain grunge grit to them. Yet at the same time there are some really cool vocal harmonies that help to make some songs a lot more powerful and emotional. Meanwhile the lyrics are absolutely stellar. They really get you thinking and contemplating our very existence.

In conclusion, Myopic is a really cool EP that is very hard to digest. There is a bit of something for everyone and the playing here is absolutely perfect. It has so much in it that it is hard to describe in these few words. Also the EP is for charity and therefore if you don't buy it you're probably a sinner or something... so get it! NOW!
