Hagbard

A Brazilian act playing Scandinavian styled folk metal with pagan and viking inspired lyrics is certainly not something that you come across every day. Yet, the incredibly trve folk metal warriors of Hagbard seem to have no problem bringing their own spin onto one of my favorite genres of heavy metal. While some moments may seem contrived (like the "lai lai's" in Let Us Bring Something for the Bards to Sing) it is clear that the men of Habrad are talented musicians who are truly dedicated to spreading the spirit of the frozen north, even if they do come from below the equator. An act with a lot of promise I am more than excited to hear their upcoming album Rise of the Sea King. If it is anywhere near as good as the two tracks they already have out then it should be one of the top folk metal albums of 2013. A very exotic act playing one of modern metals most wonderful and varied genres any fan of trve Scandinavian folk metal should love these guys.
