Contrition

Contrition is a punishing modern metal band who find a sort of unholy fusion between the music of Meshuggah and Lamb of God. Since 2009 this Danish five piece have been shattering skulls with punishing guitar riffs. Whats truly interesting about this band is that while on one side of the sound you have the hyper technical riffing of Meshuggah on the other you have palatable grooves that appeal to the metal masses. Toss in some modern metal polish that is almost reminiscent of Avenged Sevenfold and you have yourself a powerful band who seem destined to succeed on the modern scene. The lyrics are often dark and rather harsh, with lines like "Road signs too dark to even pretend that I have been here before, But there’s no turning back anymore" one gets an idea of the stark realities portrayed by Contritions music. With just a handful of songs out right now and already over a thousand facebook fans the future seems bright for Contrition. They have a clear sound and obviously should work towards making an album. I'm just excited to see where they bring their oddly groovy brand of quasi djent in the future!
