Fatality-Psychonaut

I have long thought thrash metal to be one of those things you just can't question. Either you get it or you don't, the raw riffs and crazy solos are simply fun to listen too, yet it's still really easy to get wrong. Every once in a while though you stumble across a true group of masters a band who understand the hard partying feel of thrash and inject it with some intelligent and powerful lyrics. Fiery and filled with a crazy thrash metal energy Fatality are a joy to headbang with, guaranteed to smash faces and start circle pit their new record Psychonaut is one of the best thrash albums of the year.

What I like most about the riffs is the way they shift between tightly controlled and precise playing and hectic all out riffage. This creates an interesting dynamic that keeps the music fresh and explosive. A great example of this is found on the song Thoughts Collide. I'd also like to point out the generally high quality of the lyrics on this record dealing with hypocrisy and humanity. They are simply the icing on a huge thrash metal cake. All of the elements on this record, from the mad solos to the excellent lyrics come together to create an end product that is truly special, blazing hot and filled with the magic of thrash metal.

To finish, this set of eight tracks is straight up one of the best thrash records of the year. With an understanding of how to go all out couple with a remarkable ability to pull back on the throttle and give the listener a bit of respite from the hard hitting thrash attack. In short, if you're looking for an album that will rip your face off and hold you in thrall of the neverending power of the genre than this is the album for you, a 47 minute tribute to how great the genre can be. Fans of Exodus and Municipal Waste rejoice, this is truly an album for you!
