Some of you may remember Carnal Agony as the band that impressed me so much back in November. Well I'm glad yo say that they have a new demo out now and these heavy metal masters are even better than before. With a sound that is distinctly polished and some cool new melody lines added into their tracks Carnal Agony are now even more fun to listen too. In particular, their track Rebels Lament features some simply excellent guitar lines and a wonderful mournful solo. The oftentimes gruff and powerful vocal style seems like it doesn't fit with the music at first, but after a few listens it all seems to come together and it gives Carnal Agony their own edge. Really, I wouldn't want anyone but David Johagen (The guy they have now) handling the pipe duties for this band. I love how he can handle both a Lemmy style of gruff shout (As he does on the eponymous track Carnal Agony) and a more melodic approach, it does the band good. So, if you're looking for a cool band with dark muddy riffs and a powerful attack who have their own edge then Carnal Agony is going to be something you want to check out!
