Now here is something we haven't had on this site in a while, a truly stellar folk metal act from the wilds of Switzerland. There epic folk sound takes on an almost Ensiferum type feel at times. Yet what these guys do is truly unique. The way they fuse growls with female cleans creates a sort of glorious ephemeral beauty that is hard to put into words. Suffice to say, few enough modern folk metal bands are really doing this and you have to acknowledge their creativity. Toss in some epic choruses and you have yourself a band who not only get how to MAKE folk metal but seem to actively live and breathe it. Their tight guitar performances are also fiery and showcase how well this band can flourish if given a chance. I would like to see more attention directed at these future folk metal lords, their unique approach to the genre, great songwriting and clear viking hearts should not be stimied. Fans of Ensiferum and Wintersun rejoice, the next generation of folk metal is here to take the mantle and Caladmors new record, Of Stones and Stars proves that the music of the North will never die!
