Some of you may remember Monks of Mellonwah from previous reviews of them. Suffice to say, these guys are the real thing and their special brand of modern rock is the kind of thing that could go far. The 2nd part of what is meant to be a full album the Afraid to Die EP is Monks of Mellonwahs latest and greatest release. The songs are generally progressive, but more importantly than that they reach out to the soul. Songs like the ultimate track, I Belong to You showcase the sheer songwriting beauty that Monks of Mellonwah embrace in their music. Monks of Mellonwah music is glorious and triumphant, sure it may not charge ahead like many of the metal records we cover here, but there is something more, something greater going on here. With Afraid to Die Monks of Mellonwah transcend traditional music and create something magical and tear jerking. If you want an album that will tug your heart strings with its threnodies yet still carry you to a new level of peace filled transcendence then you need to check this EP out, Monks of Mellonwah have done it again!
