Tehran, now there's a scary place, women are required to be covered and metal is banned (though they still have a pretty great scene). What kind of music could come from there? My first guest would not be mind bending noise with a penchant for the super abstract, yet, apparently, that's what we get. First of all I was shocked at the high quality of the music, I was honestly not expecting something this well polished to come out of Tehran. I really dig the abstract and ambient soundscapes that The Anatomy of a Melancholy seemingly craft with ease. Their debut EP Ovissa is a stellar little record that showcases all of the magic that noise music can have. The strange melodies and bizarre song structures are strangely appealing and its easy to fall in love with the surreal magic that The Anatomy of a Melancholy blend into their wholly unique and powerful sound. In short, if you're looking for some music to accompany your day and to take you off to strange new earths then The Anatomy of a Melancholy is the band for you!
