Elven

Now, you guys know I'm something of a progressive rock nerd. Yet the genre often seems played out, like there aren't new ideas coming in. Elven seem to be here to counteract that statement with a fresh and exciting progressive sound that provides a new way to look at one of the 20th (and even 21st) centuries most beloved musical genres. One of the things that sets Elven apart is the fact that they sing in their native Pakistani. Let me just say, this makes for some very cool and unique music. The sounds coming out of this band seem often to be inspired by their surroundings, surroundings that few other prog acts (that I'm aware of at least) have ever really experienced. Because of their unique backstory, on top of stellar musicianship and songwriting skills Elven create something that is interesting and exciting, the sort of music that is wholly on it's own and entirely beautiful. With their music Elven create something that reaches out and crosses cultures. A band who are inspired and triumphant my only complaint is that we don't have enough material from these guys. Come on Elven, give us more of your Pakistani Prog perfection!

  1. Seriously? All the lyrics seem to be written by an angry 5 year old who's trying his hand at poetry. Their music is okay, to some extent. There are a few grammatical mistakes in your review by the way.
