Saturnine

Saturnine

Exalted Woe has some really good bands on their label, not the least of which is Saturnine a strange and powerful black metal filled with sick riffs, vicious growls and an undying rage. Their debut EP also titled Saturnine is a strange and magical release notable for its minimal production and mesmerizing riffs. Saturnine know how to write a solid black metal track and the fact that this group is a two piece does not surprise me in the slightest. Yet be aware, there are some other elements here too, the riffs occasionally seep into a doom metal crush, grinding the bones down between blazing riffs. At other times we hear more of a death metal tinge come into the songs, providing a bit more raw aggression. Yet the way it is spun, around a common and dark base makes all of Saturnine powerful and memorable, these guys know how to write some top notch black metal and will not be stopped. So if you want a black metal release that gets it that brings in all sorts of unique ideas to bring the entire genre to a new level, this is the album for you.
