Goats of Doom

Goats of Doom, now if that isn't a great black metal band name I don't know what is. It gets better too, their new record Ashes from the Past not only has a rockin' name, it's also indicative of the kind of apocalyptic magic that makes black metal so good in the first place. Tossing in unholy black metal lines with dark passages seemingly straight from hell, Goats of Doom succeed in bringing forth a true black metal apocalypse. Combining ideas from several eras of black metal, it's easy to see why these guys are rapidly on the rise, they understand black metal in a way that few of their peers can claim too. There is a sort of incredibly beautiful occult magic to Ashes from the Past that makes it strangely addictive, black metal that heals the soul. This is the sort of band that reminds me why I fell in love with the genre in the first place, pure catharsis through blazing riffs and vocals ripped from Tartarus.
