Grifter-Return Of The Bearded Brethren

Grifter are a groove happy English band (Strange I'd review an English band on America Day right?) who understand what it means to bring a colossal bottom end crunch and a heaping dose of bluesy magic. Clearly steeped in the worship of the old English heavy scene, Grifter are not taking any of your crap. Their new record Return Of The Bearded Brethren is ten tracks (Well nine and a cover) of some of the best written hard rock I've heard in a good long while. This is a trio who will make you feel beat up and broken down, a servant to the almighty power of English groove metal.

Grifter are magical because they are not afraid to also bring in a touch or two of that classic Clutch sound. The heavy riffs that drive forth tracks like Braggards Boast keep the listener engaged and excited ready for more of this wondrous heavy metal magic to roar out of the keyboards and straight into your heart. Grifter is the music of long nights and hard drinks. It may not be for the faint of heart, but those of us used to hard living, beards, and beers will get it. It speaks to the soul of the metal everyman, a guy who drowns in liquor and parties until death, yet also has a more intellectual side. As Grifter collapse into the almighty chaos that is their music you realize that you have become beholden to a heavy metal monstrosity.

Turn it up, let it loose and lets go, Return Of The Bearded Brethren not only has a really cool name, it's also a record that is going to plow its way onto your playlists. Worth many a spin (I'm on my fourth I believe) it's easy to see why these guys are so rapidly growing in popularity. It's easy to latch on to the riffs on Return Of The Bearded Brethren and from there its a simple matter of rocking out until you can't move. Let the party come to you and your head bang till death. Grifter understand rock and roll and they want to help keep it alive.
