Some band names just tell it all, The Dead is one of them. This is a sludge metal act who come straight out of the gait and tear your head off, not with speed or technicality, but primitive power. The crushing forward motion of the bands new record Deathsteps to Oblivion shows a trudge towards pure annihilation. The chaotic sounds that roar out of the speakers on the records ultimate track, (also titled Deathsteps to Oblivion) showcase the groups longstanding dedication to brutality. As you dig into this record you start to get a sense of something greater and frankly much more frightening than yourself. The Dead know how to craft some truly top notch grooves and feeling the nihilistic holocaust of their sound can be at times, terrifying. The Dead are some of Australia's most potent metal exports and I think that as they get the resources to market themselves worldwide they could do something truly special!
