Infested Entrails - Defiling a Piece of the Deceased

Defiling a Piece of the Deceased cover art

I get a palatable sense of morbid pleasure out of gore metal, the gruesome riffs, guttural vocals, and general sense of destruction that these songs have is not for everyone, but for those of us who love it, it's a blast. The all guns blazing attack of Infested Entrails is certainly not for the everyman, this band takes things too far, and they revel in the blood. Within their new record Defiling a Piece of the Deceased you will find all sorts of ungodly atrocities that speak to greater Lovecraftian horrors that haunt us all. If that tempts you at all, then you're in the right place.

I think one of the first things that really struck me with Defiling a Piece of the Deceased is the very clear sense of groove the album has. Sure, it may not be catchy, but these songs certainly give you enough to latch on too, they're not creating the monochromatic and dull blasting that defines much of goregrind. Instead Infested Entrails seem to be coming from a much more Cannibal Corpse inspired school with their punishing riffs being dealt out at varying speeds allowing the listener time to engage themselves in the music. Seek no solace in this record though, from the first, you know that Infested Entrails are here to pound your bones to dust and chomp your guts to pieces.

Easily digestible and dedicated to all that is insane and unjust, Infested Entrails will certainly capture the imagination of any death metal fan, young or old. While the band still might want to polish up their sound if they want a more widespread appeal I get the impression they're content where they are, eviscerating the innocent from desecrated basements. Let these drums blast their way right into your heart, Infested Entrails are not taking any shit, and the second you try to escape they will cut you down. The agony is real, jump in and see it defined.
