Doomraiser - Reverse (Passaggio Inverso)

I've always loved me some doom metal be it of the riffy stoned kind or of the more esoteric brand. Rare though, is the band that can bring together these two dairly disparate types of doom into something that is easy to latch on too yet also somewhat transcendent. Yet somehow Doomraiser have managed to do exactly that with their new record, the exciting, inspiring and oftentimes very fun Reverse (Passaggio Inverso) an album that speaks to these guys talents, not just as songwriter or musicians, but visionaries for an entire genre.

See, Doomraiser have more or less managed to craft their sound based around their own rules. Within the sonic landscapes that these guys have created you find a bit of everything, from crushing chords with harsh vocals reminiscent of bands like Primitve Man to much more dreamy moments that even have touches of Dio. While it may be hard to fully grasp upon first listen, these guys are definitely working towards something very cool. Not quite as polished as it could be, the potential though is immense. There are a lot of very cool ideas on Reverse (Passaggio Inverso) and it will certainly keep the metal faithful interested.

As these songs trudge their way into your heart it's hard to deny the staying power of the tracks. Doomraiser seem turned on to something much more profound that lies within all of us. Their sound is exciting and passionate. I've always admired doom metal for its ability to speak to the human condition, and that, if nothing else seems to be a major goal for this band. Doomraiser will definitely pique your curiosity and Reverse (Passaggio Inverso) is definitely worth a handful of spins, if nothing else, these guys will crack open your skull and feast on your jellied brains.
