What the... is it... woah man, let me take another rip, oh wait, do I have to... Goliathan is coming out? Already? I had started to despair... but I guess the time has come for what will go down as Weedeaters most personal and profound release to date. Bud scented and filled with the crushing power that defined these sludge lords in the first place Goliathan sees Weedeater releasing what is quite possibly their best record yet, ten tracks of crushing stoner metal that will leave even the boldest pot-smoker on their knees in awe.
There is something strangely magical about Goliathan. The fact of the matter is that these guys seems to have plunged to greater, and frankly more fucked up depths than ever before when writing this record. The desperation found even from the first is stunning and proves the bands capacity for destruction. There is a sense of utter fuzzed out obliteration that is strangely charming, in some ways its droning magic reminds me of Buzzoven. Perhaps as a result of the aforementioned desperation Goliathan is also probably the bands heaviest record to date. There is a sort of very physical and concrete crush in the bottom end that leaves you suffocated, wondering if you'll ever get out of the baked oppression that defines Goliathan.
As you fall into the bitter soundworld of Goliathan it's not hard to find a few strangely comforting elements. A lot of the tried and true Weedeater formulas are back and it's good too hear the band hitting their groove again. Goliathan is a blast to listen too and feels like a logical extension on the madness of Jason... the Dragon. These guys use Goliathan to prove that they are legends for a reason, and for that reason their music will reign proudly for years to come... Now is that good enough? Gimme some 'a that... good shit dude...
